Okay, here's a little tut on making banners.
You must have Paint Shop Pro AND Photoshop.
I use PSP X and PS CS3, but this should work with other versions.
Here we go:
OPEN PSP:
Open up the images you are going to use, and resize them to fit your banner.
New Image, any size you like. I use 500x200.
Copy, Paste as new layer.
Move your image around on your banner.
Good? Okay. Blend your images together.
Done? Now, we're gonna add a nice soft effect.
New raster layer, use the default brush and draw with any color where you want a soft glow.
Adjust, blur, gaussian blur.
Mess around with the settings, depends on how soft you want it.
Okay, now text time. Use any font and type anything.
Finished? Add brushes or whatever.
Merge all.
Save it as a PNG. NOT a psp image, it won't show up in PS.
OPEN PS:
Open your image.
Go to Layers, new adjustment layer, Selective Color Layer.
Press okay.
Type in these settings:
REDS:
C: -100
M: 16
Y: 100
B: 0
YELLOWS:
C: -47
M: -31
Y: 0
B: -22
NEUTRALS:
C: 17
M: -11
Y: -18
B: -17
Press okay.
New selective color layer.
Press okay.
Type in:
REDS:
C: -70
M: -30
Y: -27
B: 100
YELLOWS:
C: -60
M: -27
Y: -27
B: -28
NEUTRALS:
C: 25
M: -12
Y: -22
B: 5
You should have a nice image now.
But we still have more to do.
Go to Hue/Saturation/Lightness
Saturation: +31
New selective color layer:
Type in:
Reds; -100, 0, +100, 0
Yellows; -100, 0, +100, 0
Cyans; -100, -100, +100, 0
Blues; -100, -100, -100, 0
Neutrals; +19, 0, -45, 0
Another selective color layer:
Type in:
Reds; -100, 0, +100, 0
Yellows; +100, 0, -83, 0
Cyans; +100, -100, -100, 0
Blues; +100, -100, -100, -100
Neutrals; +35, 0, -22, 0
Now we have a pretty image.
Go to exposure.
Play with the settings, remember every banner is different!
Now just add any effects.
Tada! You should get something like my sig.
This is my Christmas gift to you.
Credit for the selective color layer and hsl stuff goes to Allison since her tut taught me.
