Chapter One
Sat in a dark cold room, legs tight to his chest a young dark haired boy was rocking back and forth in a tight corner with in the room. With dark blue walls, covered in stickers of various comic book Superheroes the boy stared out straight ahead of him. His bare feet dug into the dirty blue carpet; with mud encrusted into the pieces of grubby material forming onto the floor the boy’s nervous shiny blue eyes wandered about the room. His rosy red cheeks are stained with his salty tears. The small, cramped room only consists of a bed, a old tatty wardrobe and the boy, the windows are darkened by the night sky with a watery pattern across the glass created by the rain.
A door from outside the room creeks open and noise erupts with in the run down building. Two voices can be heard as a male and female fumble into the house like a heard of elephants during they’re heated argument, disturbing the silence that was. The boy looks up petrified; his eyes start to fill up as he clambers to his feet. The door from outside slams shut as the tired wooden door of the bedroom swings open ricocheting off the wall behind. A tall, rough looking brown haired man stumbles into the dark room, the boy cuddles himself as he narrows into the corner timidly. The man is clearly drunk, raising his right hand pointing his index finger at the young boy he wobbles losing his balance slightly, regaining his composure he mutters “You boy, you...” The man hesitates, trying to think of something to say “You are a disappointment to this family, you…you!” The man holds his head, wincing in pain; the boy’s face looks to the floor heart broken. He nods as a tear falls from his face to the floor.
The man’s drunken spouse, a scruffy looking blonde, laughs as she sees the boy frightened in the corner. “Hey it’s Andy, the good old, good for nothing; Andy!” The woman shouts half-heartedly, you can tell she’s not sober either, stumbling about the room. Wondering over to the boy, who she referred to as Andy, she ruffled his black hair with her grubby little hands. The woman laughed as Andy continued to whimper and cry, the man groaned and chuckled to himself. “Come on baby, let’s crack open the booze and get this party started!” The man told her taking his wife by the hand; she smiled at the boy and stumbled behind the violent man as they left the room.
Sniffling slightly, whipping the tears from his eyes Andy walked over to his bed, staring at the ground as he moved. Sitting down on the edge, Andy looked out the window that faced his bed. The rain lashed against the window as it fell down on the busy city, muffled laughter could be heard from the room next door. A tear rolled down Andy’s cheek as he stared motionless out of the bedroom window. Falling from his chin the tear hit the ground, soaking up like a piece of tissue the carpet sucked up the salty tear, just like many tears which had come before it.
